HELP US TO REMEMBER

DO YOU HAVE MEMORIES, OR FAMILY STORIES, ABOUT WW2?

The years 1939 to 1945 were the most momentous, and dangerous, in history. Millions of people were killed, many more injured. It was a time of shattered people and shattered lives. It is important the the lessons learned then are not forgotten. The philosopher Georges Santayana said that 'Those who fail to remember the past are destined to revisit it'. To ensure that we do not forget should try to preserve what history we can, however trivial it may seem now.

PHOTOGRAPHS ARE VALUABLE DOCUMENTS
Most of us have family photographs that have been passed on to us. It is a good idea to ask those who know about the subjects to make a note on the back. Otherwise how will anyone ever know? Like the picture on the left of a USAAF bomber crew. No one made a note so now they are nameless heroes. But heroes nonetheless.

One of the most enigmatic of pictures - top, right.
The quality of what is written on photographs is important. This one has the words "Preston at Xmas Time" - just that. Take some time to look at all the people here, the expressions. What does it tell you?

Email your memories as soon as you can

Here is a photograph - right - that is self-explanatory - but who are they?
